Volcane Spins

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Volcane Spins is one of those games that explains itself in about four seconds and then keeps surprising you for hours. You tap to rotate a set of linked discs, lining up glowing paths so a little ember can roll from one side of the screen to the other before the rising lava catches it. The core loop is pure timing and spatial reading, and it clicks almost instantly.

What makes it stand out is how clean the controls are. Everything runs on a single thumb, one tap to spin, a hold to spin faster. No fiddly gestures, no accidental menu taps. The difficulty ramps through fresh mechanics rather than cheap speed bumps: later stages add discs that lock, discs that spin on their own, and lava that pools in unexpected directions.

I expected to bounce off it after a short session but ended up replaying early levels just to beat my own times. The art is warm and readable, the sound design has this satisfying stone-grinding thunk every time a disc locks into place, and it respects your attention. A genuinely good pick-up-and-play arcade title.
